The Philippines has made culinary history as the prestigious Michelin Guide launched its inaugural selection of top restaurants in Manila, Cebu, Pampanga, Tagaytay, and Cavite.
The ceremony, held at the Manila Marriott Hotel in Newport World Resorts on October 30, marked a major milestone for Filipino chefs and food lovers everywhere.
Michelin stars shine in the Philippines
Nine Philippine restaurants achieved the much-coveted Michelin Star rating, highlighting the nation’s growing influence on the global dining scene.
Makati fine dining restaurant Helm by Josh Boutwood emerged as the country’s first—and so far, only—recipient of two Michelin stars, a breakthrough that signals its world-class technique and consistency.

Asador Alfonso, Celera, Gallery by Chele, Hapag, Inatô, Kasa Palma, Linamnam, and Toyo Eatery were each awarded a single Michelin Star for their outstanding cooking and culinary innovation.

According to the Michelin Guide’s International Director Gwendall Poullennec, “The inspectors selected a total of 108 Philippine restaurants to be included in the inaugural guide,” reflecting months of anonymous visits and meticulous assessment.
In addition to the Star recipients, the Guide’s full inaugural list includes a diverse range of culinary spots spanning fine dining, regional icons, and innovative newcomers under the Michelin Selected list.

These distinctions were unveiled at the ceremony streamed on the official Michelin YouTube channel.
The Philippine Department of Tourism has framed the move as a tourism and jobs catalyst, aligning gastronomy with national priorities. “The arrival of The MICHELIN Guide is not only a testament to our country’s culinary excellence but also a significant leap forward for Filipino tourism,” said Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco.
With the 2026 launch, the Michelin Guide has amplified the Philippines’ culinary buzz worldwide. The recognition not only raises the bar for local chefs but also opens new doors for foodies eager to discover Filipino flavors on the global stage.
