Contribution Guidelines

We at SubSelfie welcome contributions from writers, journalists, professionals, and storytellers who want to share insightful perspectives with our readers. To ensure that every piece we publish reflects the quality and standards of our community, we ask contributors to follow these guidelines:

Articles / Guest Posts

  • Tone and Audience
You should aim to educate, inspire, or challenge perspectives—offer clear relevance to today’s Filipino youth. Articles should maintain an engaging and conversational yet responsible tone. Jargon should be explained; real talk is welcome, but keep it inclusive. Our main readers include an informed, curious Filipino youth audience (think: university students, young professionals, and Gen Z creatives).
  • Content Standards
    Your piece should:
    • Be original, well-researched, and fact-checked
    • Offer fresh insights and real value to readers
    • Be written in clear, standard English with proper grammar and punctuation
    • Avoid overly promotional content—subtle mentions are fine if they support the story’s purpose
  • Length
Submissions should typically run at least 1,000 words, enough to provide depth and context.
  • Links and Sources
    • Relevant links may be included, but purely promotional ones are not allowed.
    • All external links will be set to nofollow.
    • Please make sure to credit your sources properly if you’ve used references, data, or quotes.
  • Visuals
    • Use visuals only when they support the piece (e.g., graphs, screenshots, original photos).
    • We discourage excessive stock imagery. Free and properly credited materials from Unsplash, Canva, or your own work are encouraged.
    • Contributors must have the rights to all images submitted.
  • Originality
We accept only unpublished works. Articles already online elsewhere or copied content will not be considered. AI-generated submissions will be rejected if they are heavily machine-written without sufficient editorial input.
  • Format & Submission
Please submit your article as a Word file or a Google Doc (editable link enabled).
  • Editorial Rights
The SubSelfie editorial team reserves the right to edit submissions for clarity, length, style, and overall fit. Articles that do not follow guidelines may be declined.
  • Review Timeline
Our editorial review usually takes 2–3 weeks. Due to high volume, we will only reach out to contributors whose work has been approved.

News & Press Releases

  • Relevance
Press releases should highlight timely and relevant developments—such as latest news, milestones, launches, partnerships, awards, or trend reports. Ideally, stories should be no older than two weeks, unless the item is still newsworthy and underreported.
  • Content Requirements
    • Minimum of 300 words, written in clear standard English.
    • Preferably structured in traditional press release format (headline, dateline, body, boilerplate, contact info).
    • Should include quotes from executives, experts, or representatives when possible.
    • Keep the tone journalistic and factual, avoiding overt marketing or promotional language.
  • Visuals & Media
    • Submissions may include logos, images, or short videos (1–3 minutes).
    • Recommended size for cover image and other images: 1280×720 px in JPEG or PNG format.
    • Videos should be hosted on platforms like YouTube for embedding.
    • Provide captions, alt text, and source credits for all visuals. Contributors must have usage rights.
  • Objectivity
While the release may come from a company or organization, the tone must remain professional, factual, and unbiased. Avoid overt sales pitches.
  • Submission
Press releases can be submitted in Word format, Google Docs link, or directly in email text.
  • Editorial Process
Please allow 1–2 weeks for review. All releases are subject to editorial approval and may be edited for clarity and fit before publishing. Not all submissions will be accepted.

Key Notes:

  • No plagiarism, duplicate content, or AI-heavy drafts.
  • All contributions must respect copyright and intellectual property rights.
  • SubSelfie aims to uplift thoughtful voices—make sure your work enriches our readers’ knowledge and perspectives.
