September is always special for Filipino film lovers—it’s Philippine Cinema Month, a time to celebrate stories that have shaped generations and continue to push boundaries on screen. This year, the celebration comes with something bigger: the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) is officially launching the app version of its streaming platform, JuanFlix, on September 27, 2025.

Watching Filipino films—whether timeless classics or bold new releases—just got easier and more accessible. With JuanFlix now in app form, cinephiles and casual viewers alike can enjoy the best of Philippine cinema anywhere, anytime.

“We meant it when we said we’re just getting started!” FDCP teased in their announcement.

JuanFlix promises a cinematic journey in your pocket:

  • Restored classics and rare gems from the national archives
  • Fresh narratives from the next generation of filmmakers
  • World cinema titles making their way to Filipino audiences
  • Affordable subscription at only ₱49 per month or ₱349 per year—keeping the platform accessible to all.

Beyond pure entertainment, JuanFlix also serves as an educational resource. As Direk Joey Reyes noted on Ang Walang Kwentang Podcast, “Magagamit ‘yan ng mga estudyante ‘pag nag-aaral ng pelikula.” For film students, creators, and enthusiasts, JuanFlix is not just a streaming service—it’s a living archive and classroom.

Adding to the excitement, FDCP revealed that acclaimed titles from Cannes Film Festival—Sentimental Value, Sound of Falling (In die Sonne schauen), It Was Just an Accident, Resurrection, and O Agente Secreto—will be available to stream in the Philippines by year-end.

Whether you’re rewatching National Artists’ masterpieces like A Portrait of the Artist as Filipino and Perfumed Nightmare, or discovering the boldest stories from today’s indie filmmakers, JuanFlix brings the cinema experience closer to everyone.

Download the JuanFlix app soon on Google Play and the Apple App Store, and celebrate Philippine Cinema Month by pressing play.
