In just three days, we can all watch the highly anticipated historical drama ‘Pulang Araw’ on Netflix! Premiering on July 26, this star-studded show promises to captivate audiences with its powerful storytelling and stunning performances.

Last July 9, 2024, Netflix Philippines ramped up promotions for PULANG ARAW, the country’s biggest historical drama of 2024, with a star-studded event at The Peninsula Manila Hotel attended by celebrities, press, content creators, and VIPs. Lead stars Barbie Forteza, Sanya Lopez, David Licauco, and Alden Richards seized the spotlight to celebrate the occasion, accompanied by the supporting cast who also graced the red carpet.

Dressed in their 1940s garb from the show, the main cast gave guests a preview of what to expect in PULANG ARAW and their characters. Alden Richards, playing Eduardo dela Cruz, shared how this project has been a decade-long dream for him and the production team. Barbie Forteza, who portrays bubbly Adelina dela Cruz, highlighted the joy amidst difficulties represented by vaudeville in the show. Sanya Lopez, embodying Teresita, reflected on the story’s significance in honoring the sacrifices of Filipinos during World War II.

Alden revealed the emotional challenge of detaching from the heavy scenes, viewing the project as a tribute to those who fought for the country’s freedom. Barbie echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the profound impact of the story on her performance. David Licauco, playing Hiroshi Tanaka, discussed his character’s internal conflict, while Sanya praised her character Teresita as a symbol of courage and survival.

Barbie and David, known as BarDa, shared their experiences working together again, with David commending Barbie’s acting brilliance and Barbie praising David’s growth in his craft. The cast also recounted their memorable moments filming vaudeville scenes, particularly the tap dance classes that brought them closer.

Alden concluded by expressing how Eduardo’s transformation is driven by love—for his dreams, family, and friends. The supporting cast, including Sef Cadeyona, Aidan Veneracion, Neil Ryan Sese, and others, introduced their characters and hinted at intriguing relationships with the main cast.

The event ended with a screening of the pilot episode, followed by a teaser of what’s to come in the series.
