What better way to rejoice in the wonders of the cucumber than by celebrating its own momentous day?

Hendrick’s Gin encourages individuals to embrace their unusual side and find delight in the peculiar in its groundbreaking move by turning the spotlight to the humble green fruit as the Cucumber Currency makes a comeback in celebration of World Cucumber Day.

This June 14, the brand transforms cucumbers into exchangeable monetary units, allowing patrons to trade them for a refreshing Hendrick’s & Tonic.

With the annual celebration holding a special significance for Hendrick’s Gin, it commemorates the extraordinary fruit that contributes to the gin’s uniquely smooth and complex flavor. By infusing rose and cucumber during the distillation process, Hendrick’s creates an exceptional gin that combines lightness and sophistication. Complementing the Hendrick’s cocktail is no less than the green garnish cut from the very fruit that defines its delightful and unconventional taste.

Building on its success since 2019, Hendrick’s Gin brings back this unconventional exchange by swapping the green of cash for the green of cucumbers. This year, Hendrick’s has partnered with a bigger roster of esteemed bars across Manila.

The 38 participating bars in key areas are as follows: Bar 55, Lampara, Bar Flora, After Hours, Salt and Ice (Molito and BGC), Oto, Curator, Run Rabbit Run, Japonesa, West 32, Agimat, Distillery, Hola Bombón, Southbank (Estancia and Alabang), Brick and Mortar, Burnt Bean, Craft BGC, Fauna, St. Louis, LIT, LAB, Katsu, Scarlet, Draft (Molito, BGC, Rockwell), Maillard, Silong, Spritz, Keepers Bar, Hola Eat Drink & Play, RM16, Kona PH, Vault, Bar by East, and Seven.

These bars will accept cucumbers of any species as a barter currency during a dedicated ‘Cucumber Hour,’ a whimsical twist on the popular ‘cocktail hour’ which is slated to happen at 5PM to 11PM.

Charmaine Thio, Hendricks’ Southeast Asia Ambassador, comments, “After a well-received trial in 2019, where we converted the beloved cucumber into currency, we’re inviting curious-minded individuals once again to exchange this unconventional green fruit for the most peculiar libation, a Hendrick’s & Tonic.”

“There is simply no better way to cap off a Hendrick’s cocktail than with a little green garnish cut from the same fruit that gives the gin its delightfully unusual flavour. Whether it’s a classic slice, peculiar spears, a bold wedge or an unusual tongue, the cucumber gives ample opportunity for expressive experimentation in shape and size that is sure to please the eye as well as the palate. We welcome those with a shared disposition to join us in the wondrous possibilities World Cucumber Day has to offer.”

In addition to this exciting one-day event, patrons can also immerse in the brand’s world through the Hendrick’s Gin Cucumber Lemonade Stand while enjoying a complimentary Hendrick’s Gin lemonade for every purchase of any Hendrick’s cocktail.  Catch it in select outlets on June 14 to 16 from 5PM to 11PM.

Also happening in the 38 participating outlets, individuals can purchase Hendrick’s featured cocktail for a special promo price for the entire month of June and July.
