I guess no other event can top this one just yet – Chris Hemsworth and Sam Hargrave landed in Manila to kick off their much awaited sequel action thriller film, Extraction 2.

We’re still on a high being part of this grand event which was also their visit in the Philippines. They were warmly welcomed by regional celebrities, colleagues from the press, influencers and fans over a two-day program, including an intimate press conference and a red carpet premiere.

During the press conference, Chris shared how glad he was to be in the Philippines. “I feel excited to be here. Thank you so much for the warm welcome,” he said.

Sam was equally thrilled to be in the country and expressed how proud he was of his follow-up film. “This is even bigger and larger and more exciting,” he shared, further intriguing everyone who’s looking forward to watch the sequel to one of the most watched films on Netflix.

The dynamic duo spoke about the standout scenes in the film, one of which is the 21-minute-and-seven second “oner” for the prison fight scene.

Chris shared that their movement, scenes and sequences required a lot of preparation, rehearsal, and a different level of athleticism compared to other action films he has done before.

Unlike his role as Thor where his large built was for more aesthetic purposes, he appreciated that he didn’t have to be as bulky for the Extraction 2 film so he can move more.

They also revealed that probably one of the craziest things they did for Extraction 2 was to land a helicopter on a moving train.

Sam also shared that aside from that, Chris had to be burned seven to eight times to perfect pivotal scenes on the film.

“We look at each other and we say how can we push each other to do something we will be proud of 10 years from now and try to make it something memorable for the fans,” said Sam.

For the fan event and APAC premiere of the film, Chris and Sam headed to SM Mall of Asia where over 800 fans excitedly waited, some even since morning that day, to see their favorite stars walk the red carpet.

Both stars stepped out to the red carpet to huge cheers from the crowd and spent time signing posters and taking photographs.

We also got the chance to chat a bit with Chris and Sam, have our selfies taken and our posters signed!

But one lucky superfan was chosen to get on stage to personally meet Chris and Sam and have a snapshot with the stars.

Local celebrities and influencers like Alden Richards, Alodia Gosiengfiao-Quimbo, and Miguel Tanfelix also made an appearance on the red carpet.

Famous action stars from Asia, including our very own Derek Ramsey, Malaysia’s Aaron Aziz and Iedil Dzuhrie Alaudin, and Thailand’s Ananda Everingham and Nawat Kulrattanarak also had a special photo moment on stage with Chris and Sam.

Before leaving, Chris gave a special message to his fans: “Thank you so much for all your support and love for the first film. We appreciate your enthusiasm and excitement for the second one. We wouldn’t be here without you.”
